Image reviews
The best remote format for those looking to improve the quality of their shots!
This option suits you if:
-
You would like a more experienced colleague to review your photo and give you advice on how to improve.
-
You edit your photos using video tutorials or on your own, but your work feels like it's "missing something," and you can't quite figure out what.
-
You’re struggling with processing a specific image or series because the techniques you know don’t seem to work for this particular set.
Unlike editing tutorials, where photographers work on their own images, this is an opportunity to get personalized advice on your work and apply it to future projects.
HOW IT WORKS
-
Send one edited photo in JPEG format along with its original in RAW format or JPEG (with saved EXIF data) to jane@skydogphoto.art
The photos must be in full size.
-
Within 1–3 days, I will confirm whether I can review your work and provide payment details. This step ensures you receive the maximum benefit from the analysis. I only take on photos I believe I can provide genuine value for.
-
Within 7 days of receiving the payment, I will send you a 15-25 minute video where I:
-
Comment on your original photo (camera settings, composition, location, posing).
-
Show you how to enhance your already edited photo by demonstrating a series of editing techniques that I actively use myself.
-
-
In addition to the video, I will also send you the Photoshop PSD/PSB file that I worked with while recording the review video.
IMPORTANT: I do not edit your photos from scratch. As part of the review, I demonstrate ways to improve your work, using your already edited image as the foundation.
The video you get will show my Photoshop screen as I demonstrate how to improve your photo, with my voice providing commentary.
If anything is unclear, you’re welcome to email questions after watching the video, and I’ll respond within 2-3 days.
FAQ
How proficient in Photoshop do I need to be to benefit from the review?
To get the most value, you should understand the basics of the program: layers, masks, basic tools (brushes, selection, generative fill, curves etc.). You’ll see my Photoshop screen during the review, so you can follow along even if a technique is new to you.
So while advanced Photoshop skills aren’t required, a basic understanding is essential for effective learning.
Does the photo need to feature pets, or can I submit photos from other genres?
I only analyze the genres I specialize in: pet photography and family photography (with or without pets).
Which version of Photoshop is required, and are any additional plugins used during the review process?
I always use the latest English version of Photoshop available at the time of recording the review.
To replicate what I demonstrate, you will definitely need a version of Photoshop with Generative Fill, preferably the latest one.
Plugins are not mandatory; however, if I see that they can be effective for your image, I may use plugins like Retouch4me and Topaz Sharpen AI.
How much will you alter the image during the review?
The goal of the review is to enhance your retouching, highlight the strengths of the photograph, and suggest possible ways to improve your work, rather than turning your photo into something it wasn’t originally intended to be.
Therefore, I don’t add fantasy elements to the photo or drastically change clothing or surroundings.
I may use Generative Fill to reframe the composition or remove unnecessary background objects, but I do not completely change the background.
Does my photo need to be retouched in Photoshop? I use Lightroom/Capture One.
You can edit your photo in any software. However, keep in mind:
-
I will demonstrate ways to improve your work using Photoshop, so you need a basic understanding of it to benefit fully from the review.
-
Some techniques I demonstrate may not be replicable in Lightroom or other software.
If this is acceptable to you, feel free to order a review.
Can I send multiple photos for review?
It’s possible, but in this case, each photo will be charged as a separate review. Therefore, before ordering reviews for multiple photos, I recommend choosing the one that raises the most questions and sending it for review.
It’s quite possible that what I explain will also apply to your other photos, resolving your concerns and helping you save money.
Can I submit a photo taken on a mobile phone?
It doesn’t matter what device you use, but there are two key points:
-
The photo must be edited, as the focus will be on reviewing your retouching, not the original image.
-
The review will take place in Photoshop, so you need some familiarity with the program to understand the feedback.
If this applies to you, feel free to submit a photo taken on your mobile device.
PRICES AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS
The cost of a single image review is $150 USD, prepaid in full. Payment can be made via PayPal or Zelle. For PayPal, an additional fee applies, bringing the total to $155 USD. Zelle transfers are fee-free.
